Itinerary

Embark on an unforgettable journey through South Africa, where you'll experience the best

You touch down at Cape Town International Airport to be met and welcomed by your friendly informative guide, then transferred to a 5-star hotel in the city Centre to check in. Later, enjoy a welcome dinner of authentic South African cuisine at a fine-dining restaurant with beautiful views of the city.

After an early breakfast, you depart the city to enjoy a scenic drive via the iconic Route 62 to the quaint Karoo town of Oudtshoorn, also known as the ostrich capital of the world, 420km from Cape Town.

Along the route, you pass through many unique little Karoo towns. A place of particular interest is Cogmanskloof, which connects the two country towns of Ashton and Montagu. It is the oldest solid rock tunnel in South Africa, built by Thomas Bain in 1877.

On arrival in Oudtshoorn, you enjoy a refreshing Karoo lunch, followed by an interactive ostrich tour at a working ostrich farm. Then transfer to your overnight accommodation, which is a beautiful 5-star hidden Karoo gem. Finally, sit down to a beautifully curated evening meal, guaranteed to tantalise your taste buds.

After waking up to a beautiful Karoo sunrise, enjoy breakfast with a view of the Swartberg Mountains. Then visit the iconic Cango Caves for an easy 1-hour walking tour. These caves offer a fascinating pilgrimage through time, during which you can sense the spirit of Southern Africa’s earliest people who found shelter here for more than 80 000 years.

Your next stop is at the Cango Wildlife Ranch and Conservation Centre. This facility offers a wonderful, guided tour and provides a voice for every species, helping to create environmental awareness.

Finally, you make your way down the Outeniqua Pass to the coast, stopping at a top destination along the Garden Route, a town called Knysna, known as South Africa’s favourite little holiday town. It lies on the shores of a shallow lagoon, nestled between towering mountains, lush green forests, and the Indian Ocean. You take a relaxing boat cruise on the Knysna Lagoon to get a good view of the famous Knysna Heads. You overnight in a beautiful beach-side Chalet overlooking the Indian Ocean.

After breakfast, you travel along the Garden Route for about 30km to an area known as The Crags and Plettenberg Bay, for three unforgettable, eco-friendly activities. First, a visit to Monkeyland, a free-roaming primate sanctuary; then, a walk-through Birds of Eden, a free-flight aviary; and finally, a trunk-in-hand stroll with African elephants at an elephant sanctuary. Enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local vineyard, then head back to Plettenberg Bay to overnight in 5-star style.

After breakfast, you visit the Tsitsikamma National Park and take a light hike to the Storms River bridge, to truly appreciate the dramatic coastal scenery of reefs, rivers and lush forests. See ancient rivers carve their way to the ocean where dolphins frolic in the surf. “Tsitsikamma” derives from the Khoekhoe language, and means “place of much water,” probably referring to the clear waters of the Tsitsikamma River. During the calving season, July to December, watch Southern Right Whales come inshore to mate and calve.

Take a “Woodcutter’s Journey,” which is a guided tour in a specially designed 4x4 vehicle that traverses the forest, taking you back in time along an ancient route used by migrating elephants’ eons ago. Enjoy a light picnic surrounded by nature in its purest form. Then, return to your 5-star accommodation in Plettenberg Bay.

After breakfast, you depart for a scenic drive to a private Game reserve to experience an authentic African safari. Immerse yourself in the never-ending wilderness and wonder at the wildlife. On your return, sit down to a warm meal and have the evening to relax and soak up your surroundings before retiring.

After breakfast, you depart the private game reserve and take a relaxing yet scenic journey back to Cape Town.
